Grandidierite is a rare orthohombic nesosilicate that consists of both SiO4 and BO3 elements ("borosilicate"). The greenish-blue mineral is relatively hard (Mohs=7.5), mostly opaque, more rarely translucent or transparent. A higher iron content causes grandidierite to have a greener color. Crystals with terminal faces are rarely found.
