Mirerani
At the foot of the Merelani Hills near Mirerani (also Mererani) is the seven kilometer long area of the Tanzanite mines. But other attractive minerals are also found here: yellow and blue Prehnite, Diopside, Chrome Tourmaline, Tremolite, etc. The area is cordoned off and strictly guarded. An entry permit for foreigners is almost impossible. The commercial center is the "Madini" in the city.
