Demantoid (Andradite)

Demantoid and Topazolite belong to the Garnet Supergroup, specifically to Andradite, and are thus an iron/calcium silicate with a cubic crystal structure. The green to olive-green crystals of Demantoid get their color from traces of chromium, while iron is responsible for the brown or yellow color of Topazolite. Mixed crystals exist in between. Andradites have a medium hardness (Mohs 6-7.5).

For several years, the Demantoid deposit near Antetezambato in northwestern Madagascar was considered exhausted. For the past 1-2 years, excellent demantoids and topazolites have occasionally reappeared on the market - albeit at significantly higher prices. The garnet crystals are mined in a mangrove area, which leads to considerable restrictions on mining due to the tides. The demantoids formed in cavities within a skarn rock, which itself formed through alteration processes when volcanic fluids intruded porous sandstone.

Unless a different deadline is specified in the respective offer, the goods will be delivered domestically (Germany) within 3 - 5 days, and for deliveries abroad within 5 - 14 days (-20 to Australia/New Zealand).
