Orange-colored Spessartite with very well-developed crystal shape, translucent. Virtually undamaged. Some matrix in healed cracks.

The orange to dark red Spessartine from Loliondo is usually picked up loosely by the locals. They are rarely recovered (and offered) with the loose matrix. The crystals usually show the icositetrahedron, more rarely the rhombic dodecahedron. Hematite inclusions are responsible for a red color. Other inclusions include braunite, muscovite, quartz and zircon.
