The chrysoberyls from Mount Ibity are rather blocky, opaque and have an olive to yellow-green color and a dull luster. An attractive small specimen with a superb twin protruding from the matrix. A small piece of the front surface is missing.

Chrysoberyl is a diverse mineral which is traded expensively as a valuable gemstone due to its breathtaking fire, its play of colors from soft green tones to strong golden yellow, its high hardness, purity and, last but not least, its rarity. He is particularly known for the cat's eye effect. Chrysoberyl often produces excellent twins, a specialty being the cyclic rotation triplets. Clear crystals mainly come from Sri Lanka and Brazil, collectors with fascinating paragenesis often come from Madagascar.
