Grandidierite is a rare orthorhombic crystallizing nesosilicate, consisting of both SiO4 and BO3 elements (a borosilicate). This greenish-blue mineral is relatively hard (Mohs = 7.5), mostly opaque, and rarely translucent or transparent. A higher iron content results in a greener color of the grandidierite. End-faced crystals are rare.
