After years without any notable finds, two pockets of extremely rare green tanzanite were discovered in early 2025, most of which we were able to acquire. Unfortunately, most of the translucent to clear pieces were crushed by the "cobbers" in Mererani to be resold to the jewelry industry. Therefore, the number of complete transparent crystals is very small, and we had to purchase fragments. Interestingly, the green tanzanites exhibit different end faces than common tanzanites; they are also often etched. The colors of the crystals range from dark to olive to blue-green. A small, almost complete tip of a crystal; a small side surface is missing. Otherwise, the end faces are excellently formed and display the longitudinal striation typical of these crystals.
