This large pyrite crystal has several surfaces with top luster. However, a few side surfaces are partially damaged or not fully developed.

Pyrite crystallizes in the cubic crystal system and forms very versatile crystal shapes (e.g. cube, octahedron, pentagon dodecahedron, mixed shapes). Chemically it is iron sulfide (FeS), is also known as fool's gold and can actually contain gold in very small amounts. However, this is not the cause of the attractive yellow metallic shine.
