Aquamarine

Aquamarines are the blue variety of beryl, a cyclic beryllium aluminum silicate that crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal structure. The color palette ranges from pale turquoise blue to navy blue (rare) to green, with a smooth transition to yellow heliodor. Due to its high hardness and the partially crystal-clear crystals, aquamarine is also very popular in the jewelry industry.

At 2254 m, Mount Ibity is the highest mountain in a massif south of Antsirabe. In this region, which is part of the Sahatany Pegmatite Field, many tourmalines are found, among other things, which are then sold to middlemen at the mineral market in the town of Ibity.
