Aquamarine

Aquamarines are the blue variety of Beryl, a cyclic beryllium aluminum silicate that crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal structure. The color palette ranges from pale turquoise blue to navy blue (rare) to green, with a smooth transition to yellow Heliodor. Due to its high hardness and the partially crystal-clear crystals, Aquamarine is also very popular in the jewelry industry.

The Manapa pegmatite field is located about 40 km southwest of Antsirabé in the Betafo district. In addition to various Beryl varieties, Tourmalines (Schorl, Elbaite and Liddicoatite), Phenakites, Rhodizites and others are found here.
