A fascinating deep blue Tanzanite, almost clear in the upper part, with very good lustrous side and end faces. As a special feature, the crystal shows a small balcony-like indentation on the side below the tip due to a crystallization anomaly, which has some matrix.

At the foot of Kilimanjaro, Tanzanite is mined in a small area in the eponymous country of Tanzania, which is revered by the locals as the "crystal of heaven". Trichroism makes tanzanite probably the most colorful mineral of all and, depending on the viewing angle, leaves it in colors of mystical blue, bright yellow and electric violet to dark red.
