Tsavorite, also known as Chrome Vanadium Grossular, is a bright green variety of garnet. Its rarity, the extraordinary mint green color and its transparency make it a sought-after and precious gemstone and a guaranteed eye-catcher in every collection. Gemstone-quality crystals worth collecting are rare and only occur in Mererani, a small area in northeast Tanzania.

Mererani is a fascinating and exceptionally diverse deposit in northeastern Tanzania at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The deposit first gained international attention in the 1970s with the discovery of gemstone quality Zoisite (Tanzanite), but further discoveries were to follow: for decades, in addition to Tanzanite, it has provided a variety of other minerals such as Tsavorite (Chrome Vanadium Grossular), Diopside, and Tremolite , Graphite, Alabandin, Wurtzite, etc. as the world's best crystals. The approximately 16 square kilometer discovery area is protected by a four-meter-high video-monitored wall and is guarded around the clock by armed guards. As a foreigner or local, it is virtually impossible to gain access.
